TransDerm is dedicated to developing therapeutics for skin disorders. In partnership with the International Pachyonychia Congenita Consortium (IPCC) and the PC Project (www.pachyonychia.org), we are investigating different avenues for helping patients suffering from the very rare skin disorder, pachyonychia congenita (PC). TransDerm welcomes inquiries regarding our research and partnerships to help us accomplish our goals.

Mary Schwartz, Director of Pachyonychia Congenita (PC) Project (a 503c3 non-profit), has declared June 2nd as PC Awareness Day.

The ThickSkin Duathlon is just one of 50+ events in 10 counties around the world that will take place on June 2nd as part of Pachyonychia Congenita Awareness Day (you can see an interactive map of the various activities at http://pachyonychia.org/PCAwareness.php). PC is an extremely rare inherited skin disorder. Those suffering from it have extremely thick and disfigured nails but the biggest patient complaint are excruciatingly painful blisters that occur at or near the pressure points of their feet that can severely limit mobility. In the interest of full disclosure, I sit on the board of PC Project. An anonymous generous donor (thank you!) has agreed to match all funds raised (up to $10K; i.e., sponsorships and registrations). Our company, TransDerm, is providing up to $25K in additional matching funds. Finally, we have a wonderful PC benefactor that will match all of these contributions 2:1 (no limit that we know of - I'd love to make them uncomfortable due to all the funds raised :-) ). TransDerm is organizing the event and covering all costs (e.g., City and Calif State Park permit fees, police officer fees, etc.). So at present, if you were to register, donate or sponsor the event, your registration/donation/sponsorship would be matched up to 12-to-1 for every dollar contributed!! For all sponsors that contribute at least a few hundred bucks, we are including their logos on the back of the event t-shirt (see attached - thanks to all of the wonderful institutions that have already sponsored). Our goal at the end of the day is to raise well over $100K for PC Project and the patients they serve.

This event includes some of the most spectacular coastline anywhere!
